The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is the process by which people become members of the Roman Catholic Church. Participating in OCIA is much more than going to classes in Catholicism. It’s undergoing a conversion to a new way of life in Christ. A faith journey process designed for:
RCIA meets on Thursday nights from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. in the Resource Center. Classes start in September. Please call the parish office @ 812-522-5304 to register.
Materials:
You will be provided with a Bible, Handbook for Today's Catholic and handouts for each class.
Attendance:
Given our short schedule for the year, we ask that you try your best to make every session.
Absences:
If you are unable to attend one of the Thursday night sessions, please contact our office at 522-5304.
Prayer:
Is an essential part of our faith journey as we seek to learn more about and develop our relationship with God. We will join in prayer together each week at RCIA. We also encourage everyone to find time each day to devote to prayer.
Worship:
Please begin or continue to worship with us at St. Ambrose Church. Becoming familiar with the Mass will help you to grow in your relationship with God.
Mass schedule
St. Ambrose: Saturday 5:30 pm; Sunday 8:00 am, 10:00 am, 12:30 pm & 5:00 p.m. (Bi-lingual)
Baptismal Certificates
For those of you who are baptized and plan on continuing with the OCIA process, please bring a copy of your baptismal certificate.
Sponsors
Part of our faith journey is having companions along the way. Most inquirers do not have a sponsor in mind, however if you have someone in mind, please let us know. We ask that sponsors are fully initiated Catholics (one who has received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist).
